Our Association bids you Welcome and Aloha to Oahu, known from ancient times as the "Gathering Place"
Oahu, the main island in the state, has many accommodation choices in addition to the hotels in Waikiki. There are large vacation homes for the extended family, cottages for smaller groups, apartments , studios, and in-home bed and breakfast units. These properties range from the most exclusive beachfront estates to tents in the midst of privative rain forests.
On Oahu, visitors can experience almost unlimited activities - five-star dining, entertainment and cultural activities, international shopping, island-wide golfing, hiking and our world famous water activities of surfing, wind surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, kite sailing, and kayaking. Seasonal excursions feature encounters with friendly Spinner Dolphins, magnificent Humpback Whales, rare Monk Seals, and endangered Green Sea Turtles.
Every compass point on Oahu offers unique vacation experiences:
North: Famous for the thundering giant surfer of winter, the North Shore beaches are awesome at any time of the year - Sunset, Pipeline, Waimea - are all well worth visiting. The Charming town of Haleiwa has great shops, restaurants, and "local" atmosphere.
South: Waikiki - the "Playground of Royalty" - the center of premier dining, shopping, the zoo and aquarium - and the famous sunsets.
East: Enchanting Haunama Bay and it's magical tropical fish, Sealife Park, famous "Eternity Beach" from the movie, Make and Sandy Beaches; the powder white sand of Waimanalo Bay, and onwards to Kailua and Lanikai, voted "Best Beaches" for several years, and the Mecca of windsurfers from around the world.
West: Old Hawaii at its best - visit the Waipahu Plantation Village, travel up the coast to Waianae, where more traditional Hawaiian culture is present, experience endangered ocean creatures as they migrate, and see renown Makaha Beach.
Oahu has so much to do that it will be difficult to fit it all into just a few days. Please let our alternative accommodations providers help you plan your "off the beaten path" vacation.
